Modify HPCM JVM heap size

To Modify the JVM Heap Size follow the below procedure-

On Unix:

To increase the JVM (Java Virtual Machine) you need to go to this location:
/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem1/bin/deploymentScripts/setCustomParamsProfitability.sh
Edit the section:
USER_MEM_ARGS=”-Xms128m -Xmx512m ”

-Xms is the minimum amount of memory used by the Java virtual machine running server profitability
-Xmx is the maximum amount of memory used by the Java virtual machine running server profitability

Restart the hpcm server for the changes to take effect.

On Windows:

By default the HPCM web application will be installed as a service so you can change the -Xms and -Xmx parameter in the windows registry.

By default go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions\Profitability0\HyS9HyS9PftWeb
locate JVMOption??=-Xms and JVMOption??=-Xmx (were ? is a digit) and change the parameters.

Restart the hpcm Service for the changes to take effect.

Recommended Value:

It really depends on the amount of memory available on the physical server (on a 64 bit environment). It is recommended to increase parameter -Xmx at least to 1024m
In version 11.1.2.3 the default value is 4096m. Hpcm can use a lot of memory some customer do increase it to 8 or even 16 GB (make sure that you have enough memory available if you increase your heap size).
Typically you would be advised to monitor the memory used by the HPCM process for heavy tasks and make sure just that the process does not use all it’s heap size otherwise increase it.
