Although I don’t have a complete list of folders that should be excluded from an anti-virus scan, the following is recommended:
- It is not advised to remove Anti Virus scanning on static files (Binaries).
- It is not advised to have an anti virus scan on folders that are frequently being updated; such as webcatalog, temp and log files.
Be advised that the server needs to ‘lock’ access to a file when writing to it, and if the Anti Virus process is scanning it, it causes a performance problem. Since Oracle does not have a list of folders that need to be excluded from an anti-virus scan, you need to weigh the performance vs Anti Virus scan incrementally.
